Audio Groups
Spatial is designed to work with users near and far, so if you are in the same physical space as another user, you may be asked if you'd like to mute the others in your location.
This feature is designed to eliminate double-audio. If you're physically within earshot of another user in Spatial, it's best to mute them. If you're not, you can opt not to mute.
How location groups work: We determine your location based upon your IP address. Everyone is always in a location-based audio group. If you are determined to be far away from other users in a space, you are in your own location group. If you're in the same physical location as another user in the same space, you'll be asked to if you want to group your audio together.
I joined a Spatial room with other users in my physical location. I want to hear the other users in my space, but I cannot. How can I manage my audio group?
Sometimes we incorrectly determine that two or more people are in the same group. You'll need to tell Spatial you are remote.
On Web: If you're not prompted with the Audio Groups message when you join, leave the room and re-join. You'll then see the pop-up and will be able to mute or unmute nearby users to your preference.
On Mobile: Manage your audio group by clicking the expandable (...) menu, Audio Groups, then adjust your settings as desired.
On VR headset: Adjust location grouping by going to Settings, then Edit Location Groups. If you're grouped with someone you cannot hear, click CREATE NEW GROUP. This should solve your audio issues.
